Auditions for a musical revue based on Lois Wyse's best selling
book, "Funny, You Don't Look Like
a Grandmother," are scheduled for
June 26, 1:00 pm at The Playmakers Theatre, 121 W. 3rd, Grove, OK.
It is a humorous, heartwarming revue that looks at modern
grandmothers in a whole new light. Sheilah Rae teams with Wyse on the book and
lyrics, and the music is by Robert Waldman.
Together they have crafted a funny and warm homage to granny-hood.
The cast includes 3 women who play a variety of Grandmothers,
one Grandfather, a son and a daughter (parents of the grandchild). All must sing and dance or at least move
well. The revue will be directed by Suzanne Boles. Please leave a message with your interest in the auditions, as we
may have to delay the audition date depending upon the arrival of the
music. Email: 1groveplaymakers@sbcglobal.net
or call 918-786-8950 if you want to audition.
The revue watches three grandmothers making the transition from
granny glasses and Red Cross Shoes to cute little tennis dresses, skis and a
condo in Florida, to say nothing of the world of laptops, cell phones and kick
boxing. They work out, and step out in
“Grandma’s Gotta Dance,” and shop till they drop in “Plastic Grandmas.” They
long for an “Old Style Grannie” to help with babysitting, and shoot from the
hip-- “There Oughta be a Law to Outlaw In-laws.” Sometimes they sing along with spouses, so Grandpa is included,
and with the expecting children, (the son and daughter).
