Grand Lake Area Chamber Article
for 12/02/10 Chronicle
What a great weekend we have in store
here on Grand Lake O’ the Cherokees. Whoever said there isn’t anything to do at
the lake in the “off” season is going to be missing out on some great holiday
fun, so make sure you are here to enjoy it all! On Saturday, December 4th,
there is so much going on it might be hard to take it all in but here is a list
of a few things you might want to add to your calendar.
The Polar Bear Plunge at Arrowhead Yacht
Club… party starts at 11:00 with the jump at 1:00. Call Arrowhead
(918-782-3292) to register your jumpers.
Arrowhead teams up with South Grand Lakers Helping Children for this
event to provide food, clothing and toys during Christmas. Be sure to take a
toy to help area kids and your camera because you won’t want to miss the
jumpers leaping into the cold waters of Grand Lake.
Grand Lake O’ the Cherokees Christmas
Parade by land or by Grand – the day kicks off at 2:00 with Mr. & Mrs.
Santa at Disney City Hall. They will be there from 2-4pm for pictures and after
the parade at the Langley City Hall for pictures from 7:30-8:30pm. The chili
dinner kicks off at 2:00pm and runs till 8:00pm, sponsored by Grand Lake
Fireworks. The parade line-up starts at 4:30 at the Disney Assembly of God,
with the parade beginning at 6:00pm and ending at the Langley Ball Park. If all
goes well, when the parade reaches the Pensacola Dam the Christmas Lights Boat
Parade will also be arriving at the dam. Want to watch both parades from a
great viewpoint and stay warm? Join the Grand Lake Area Chamber of Commerce for
a meet and greet parade-viewing reception from 5-7pm in the GRDA Ecosystems and
Education building Community Room. We will have hot cocoa and cookies.
If you miss the parade on Saturday, there
is plenty more holiday fun to be had and here is just the tip of the iceberg. December
2nd - Pryor Christmas parade, December 9th - Vinita’s
parade, 10th - Ketchum’s parade, 11th - Grove’s parade.
Don’t forget to take a drive over to Pine
Lodge Resort and see their Winter Wonderland of Lights, open nightly from 6-10.
As you can see there is lots to take in
this holiday season, and this is just the start of what’s happening. If you
need more information on any of these events, just give us a call at
918-782-3214.
Hope you all have a great Grand Holiday
Season.
