Grand Lake Chamber Article for 10-28-10 Chronicle

ANNUAL BANQUET NOVMBER 1ST

Make plans to join us for our annual gathering of the Grand lake chamber this coming Monday night November 1st at Cherokee Yacht Club.  It all starts at 6:30 PM and will be a fun evening as we will have a receptions style event with food and fellowship.  We ask with the $30.00 ticket that you bring an unwrapped toy that we will be giving to the Grand Lake Community Ministries to give to the kids in the area that need a little cheer for the holiday season.  Thursday the 28th of October is the deadline for reservations so call the office and let us know you are coming.

We will present the officers for the 2011 Executive Committee and hear from the 2010 president Mayor Joe Johnson and the 2011 President on the plans for the chamber as it continues to move forward with the program of work to build on the economy of the region.

CORPORATE CHALLENGE

On Monday of this week we held our golf outing at Patricia Island Golf Club and had a windy good time around the course.  Thanks to Andy and his staff for making the event run smoothly.  Also to our volunteers, Joe Johnson, Peggy McGehee, Jaime Dobbins, Micelle  Robertson, Lori Starks, Tiffany Green and Kelly Rice.  The winners were the team from Collins Electric that won in a card off from second place Benefit Recourses and third was the APEC team.  Lunch was prepared by Clanton’s Café and sponsored by the First National Bank of Grove.  Thanks to all the hole sponsors and our event sponsor Serenity Hospice.  And of course Lora Jackson for all of her help in getting it all organized.

LAST ON

This will be my last article to Grand Lake as executive director to the Grand Lake Chamber of Commerce.  When I started at the Tulsa Boat show in 2008 I knew that we had the leaders in the community to help set the chamber on a good course to represent the member businesses.  Since that time the chamber has moved into the GRDA Ecosystem and Education building and we have greeted thousands of visitors to the lake and gave them information about our member companies.  The volunteer leaders of the chamber are working hard to find my replacement and will announce soon whom they have selected.  I would like to think the Grand Lake community for their support during these past years.  It is now time for me to turn all my focus the Diana’s and my business that has been a joy for the last six years.  We both thank everyone for their support over this time.  Come by for a visit!

AND REMEMBER ALWAYS:  HAVE A GREAT GRAND DAY!!!
