Grand Lake Chamber Article 09-09-10

Mother Nature gave old Grand Lake another perfect long weekend to end a great summer here in Northeastern Oklahoma.  The boats were all over the place with most every sail boat out enjoying the wind that moved them quickly from one shore to the next.  And with some rain from the latest hurricane and cooler temperatures we can green up again before Fall kicks in, this is the best time to be on the Lake!

HOOK N’ COOKOFF

We still need some more cooking teams to help feed all the hungry folks that are buying tickets form teams members and here at the chamber office.  Now is the time to buy and save for adults they are $7.00 and got to $8.00 at the gate.  More and more vendors are signing up to display their good stuff for you to purchase, great time to do that early holiday shopping and avoid the rush.

We are getting entries for the car Show this year which is a great way to get to show off your pride and joy on wheels and great a great deal on you tasting kits.  Just a $10.00 entry fee will get you and your partner each a kit and you could get a great trophy to take to the next car event.  Call the office for details 918-782-3214.

MEMBERSHIP LUNCHEON

Make plans now to join fellow members of the chamber as we return to Cherokee Yacht Club on September 23rd at 11:30 AM.  Our speaker this month is going to be Wayne Blackman that has spoken to our group before on marketing.  His program this time will be about a program he helps organize at a fishing resort in Canada where they bring in wounded veterans and get them to enjoy outdoor sports they thought they may never have been able to due to their injuries.  This is a heartwarming story you will not want to miss.  Make your reservations early by email to admin@grandlakechamber.org or just give Lora a call at the office 918-782-3214.

SUMMERSIDE VINEYARDS

One of the many fall events is going on this weekend at Summerside Vineyards with the “Catch the Crush IX” all starting Saturday the 11th at 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM.  Enjoy a continental breakfast, winery tours, grape picking, buffet, live music, Lucy Look – Like Contest and grape stomping.  Call for information at 918-256-3000 or wine@summersidevineyards.com

VERTERIANS HONOR PLAZA

Saturday Morning there will be a ground breaking at 11:30 AM for this project sponsored by the South Grand Lake Lions Club.  This plaza is located just east of the city park in Langley.  This project is designed to honor all who served in any branch of the military.  There will be a short program to help dedicate this spot for all of those men and women who gave part of their lives to support the freedom of America.

HAVE A GREAT GRAND DAY!!!
