Next Thursday the 22nd we will have another of our membership lunches and we headed back to Monkey Island to Anna’s Bananas where Harrel will have a great meal prepared for us.  The program will be a presentation from Green Country Marketing on all the products they produce to promote tourism in the Northeast corner of Oklahoma.  We will be discussing the COOP opportunities we can create in publications that reach out across the country to invite visitors to enjoy Grand Lake.  Please call and make reservations at 918-782-3214 or send an email to admin@grandlakechamber.org  and if you are on Facebook we have posted an invitation on our page.  You can also find us at 360grandlake.com.

NEW MEMBER

We are very pleased to announce a new member to the Chamber, Lakeview Stained Glass located on highway 82 about a mile and a half north of the 28 & 82 junction.  Floyd Johnston has built a great facility on the west side of the road and offers services of repairing and building stained glass of all sizes.  He also offers classes so you too can learn how to make all sorts of stained glass objects for you home or as gifts.  Floyd mentioned that one of the reasons he joined the Chamber was to be able to offer Health Insurance to his employee through the Chamber Blue Cross Blue Shield program.  This is a great benefit that gives you and your employees good coverage at a reasonable cost.  Welcome Lakeview Stained Glass.

HOOK N’ COOKOFF

It is time for all of our cooking teams and vendors to make plans for our biggest event of the year.  On September 25th we will hold the 17th annual and 9th National Catfish cooking Competition at Pelican Landing at the north end of Duck Creek.  The winners last year were:

Best catfish – Terry Davis

Best Hushpuppies – Mudcats

Best Cole Slaw – Terry Davis

Best Spirit – Mudcats

People’s Choice – Mayor Joe representing Waters Edge RV Resort

We also have opportunities for area businesses to sponsor this event and the early ones will have their banner on display for a month on highway 85 in front of Pelican Landing.  Give Lora a call in the chamber office to get your company signed up.  We plan to have another 1500 folks come and enjoy the food the music and all the vendors offering their neat stuff to all who attend.   GRDA is already in as one of our Platinum Sponsors and Vinnie’s Italian Ice and Summerside Winery are already signed up and making plans to be there.

NEW BOARD MEMBERS

We are pleased to announce that the Chamber has two new board members that have been elected to the board to fill open positions on the board.  Our great supporter Uncle George Dale of Grove will be attending his first board meeting along with Tad Jones.  Uncle George has been selling real estate around the lake for years and Tad is the new Executive Director for the Grand Lake Association.  We look forward to their leadership in the coming years.

HAVE A GREAT GRAND DAY!!
