Legislative Breakfast Cancelled; Regular Membership Meeting June 24th

For those of you who had planned to attend our Legislative Breakfast this Wednesday we are sorry that we had to postpone due to many of our area elected officials were not able to be with us.  We will let everyone know when the new date will be.  If we missed talking to you about the cancellation we hope it did not mess up your plans for the day.

Our next membership luncheon will be on June 24th and will be held at Arrowhead Yacht Club starting at 11:30 AM.  The program is one you will not want to miss as we are going to have a presentation from the State Chamber of Commerce on the Prosperity Project.  We had this group come year before last and created the most excitement we have had a a meeting in a long time.  The program is one that helps businesses and their employee involved getting the VOTE OUT for this year’s upcoming elections.  Also this program helps everyone understand the positions those running for office are taking on certain issues.   So make plans now to be there and remember to make a reservation 918-782-3214.

Thank you to this group for the support of our work at the Grand Lake Chamber.

As we discussed in this column last week June 5th was a busy day all around the Pond.  The Shriners had a good turnout for the 2nd annual Run for the Children that started in Langley and ended in Ketchum.  There was a lot of sweating going on and heavy breathing at the finish line.  This event  raised funds for the transportation of sick KIDS to the hospital for treatment, thanks for all who made the effort.  At the Finish line in Ketchum the Chamber set up a Fish Fry with cooking done by Mayor Joe and his team and help from AEP-PSO, Clanton’s Café, The Artichoke and The Dobbins.

This was just a small sample of what you can taste in September at the 17th annual Hook N’ Cookoff on the 25th at Pelican Landing.  Make plans now to attend this event.  We are signing up vendors and cooking teams so fill out your entry form and get on the list.

We are continuing to make improvements and updates on our web site, so go to grandlakechamber.org to check out the listings for lodging and dining as they have been set up for easy access of our current members and make plans to visit them and use their services.  We are also expanding and upgrading all of our communication with members and the general public which will see a quarterly newsletter produced and made available to visitors about the activities of the Grand Lake Area Chamber.

Two great weekends down and lots more to come!
