It is time for the Fall Annual Meeting of the Monkey Island Association and election of Board Members.  We have decided to combine it with the Island Thanksgiving which has grown in popularity over the years!

Dear Grand Fishing Report, Lots of things coming your way so lets spread the good news and get involved.  With the economy the way it is everyone needs help this year.  Doesn't matter whether you can do a little or do a lot.  There are options on every level.   Thank you again for making this a GRAND place to live, work and play!  The Holiday Season is kicking off! Please add these events to your calendars.  Any support you can offer is a blessing for someone in our local area.  November 17th Festival of the Trees The annual Festival of Trees will be held in Miami this year, Tuesday, November 17th, 6:00 P.M. at Buffalo Run Casino. The Coleman Restaurant is providing the menu which will include chicken breast and pork loin. Reservations for this fun event are $35.00 per person. This fundraiser supports C. C. C. I.'s many activities, such as advocacy, counseling, and shelter for victims of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault. The Community Crisis Center covers Northeastern Oklahoma and beyond including our own Monkey Island. To make reservations, donate items or for further information, please contact the Community Crisis Center, Inc. at 918-540-2275.  Can Food Dance sponsored by Dwain Richardson for the families in our area. Saturday November 21st  ....7pm or  7 ish as they say!  This is a grand  cause and the Christian Help Center really appreciates and needs the assistance.  Bring your canned goods....that's your ticket in the door.  Or can't make the dance ctc Dwain to pick up the canned goods or accept your donation at 918.257. 8484.  Lots of your friends and neighbors will come out to spend an evening together and feed the needy in our local area.  I never miss this one. Every year a crew from the Island bakes cookies and delivers them to local nursing homes for Christmas.  This year we plan to gather at the Shebang to bake around 11am on Sunday Dec 6th.   We are inviting more people to play by asking you to bake at home if you can and bring your cookies to the Shebang between 11am-2pm Sunday the 6th.  Please let us know if you used splenda or truvia for our diabetics or regular sweetener.  Thank You! Mark the second Saturday in December ...the 12th for the Annual Christmas Parade in Grove.  We will decorate the grand old fire truck Larry Duke brought to the island...take some bikes and our famous Monkey to the parade!
